Retractable Window Screens
For once, the most practical option is also the best-looking. Our retractable screens for windows vanish into a custom casing when you don't need them.
Mesh Options
The mesh you pick matters more than most people think. It controls how much breeze gets through, how much sun you block, how visible you are from the street, and how well you keep insects out. Phantom offers a handful of mesh types, and each one is built for a different priority.
The key spec is openness factor. A more open weave lets more air and light through. A tighter weave blocks more sun and keeps the space cooler — which can make a real difference on a west-facing lanai in July.
When we come out to measure, we’ll talk through what you actually want the screen to do. Block bugs? Cut the afternoon glare? Add some privacy from the neighbors? Keep the view of the water? Once we know that, picking the right mesh is pretty straightforward.
Note: the samples shown online are a rough guide only. We bring physical mesh samples on every estimate so you can see the real thing in your own light.
Insect Mesh
This is the workhorse. It keeps mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and love bugs out while still letting the breeze move through. Blocks up to 55% of UV rays. The higher openness factor makes it the right pick for large openings where you want airflow and a clear view of the yard, pool, or water. For most Tampa Bay homes, this is what we recommend on lanais and patio openings.

Privacy Mesh
Tighter weave, available in several colors. Blocks up to 90% of UV rays and gives you noticeably more privacy from the street or a close neighbor. It also takes the edge off afternoon sun on west or south-facing openings, which anyone who’s lived through a Florida summer knows is a real perk. You give up a little airflow and visibility compared to insect mesh. For a lot of homeowners, that trade is worth it.

BetterVue
This is the mesh on Phantom’s retractable window screens. It does a great job blocking insects without washing out the view — when the screen is down, you can still see clearly through the window. It also has a built-in retention system that keeps the mesh from billowing out on breezy days, which matters more than you’d think on a Gulf Coast property.

Color Options
Phantom screens come in a range of standard colors made to blend with common exterior and interior finishes. The housing, tracks, screws, and handles can all be color-matched so the whole system disappears into the trim when it’s retracted.
Heads up: the colors shown on a screen can look different from the actual coated product, especially under Florida sun. We bring real swatches to every consultation. Picking a color in person, against your actual house, beats picking from a website every time.
Signature Color Options
Retractable door screens are available in 8 signature colors, ready to order. These cover the most common exterior trim and door finishes we see on Tampa Bay homes.
